My friend and I got the strip loin steak here last night and it was the toughest steak that we've ever had. I will be picking it out of my teeth for days to come. The sides and poutine were good though. Restaurant and waiter was very nice. Will not be going again for food.
We both had the Black Cod, a special dish available only this weekend. We really enjoyed it; a light, delicate fish, full of flavour with veggies. It was very good. I hope they add it to the menu. Thanks to Chef Stan for letting us know about it with his video knowledgeable social media.
The Double Tree is our hotel of choice while attending our annual convention in Windsor.... one of the deciding factors is the River-Room Restaurant which we dine at a least a couple of times during our 4 day stay. The staff is very accomodating, right from making the reservation through to our parting experience. The waitress was extremely pleasant, did not rush our order or meals..even though we had a party of eight. The food was simply amazing all of us had something different.. The meals were timed perfectly. The Salmon, The Tuna and the Sea Bass was exquisite, as was the Steak grilled to perfection. I would highly recommend this 5 * restaurant to anyone who wants a relaxing "no rush" meal experience. This is our 4th consecutive year we have had reservations at the River-Room restaurant ... absolutely no regrets. To the staff and chef, thank you for adding to our wonderful weekend experience! If I could give 10 stars I would atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a nice experience very tentative. I personally dealt with Christina and Mukesh and I wish I could give them more than a 10 out of 10 I was here for a week on a work conference and cannot have asked for better
I came to the river room a few weeks ago and propose to my now fiancé and a private room within the restaurant. The service was great. The food was amazing and the ambiance was beautiful harmony, really went above and beyond to make sure that everything within my plan went smoothly. She really took the time to understand the theme and the style I was going for, and she assisted in every way, she possibly can needless to say everything went accordingly and I cannot thank her and the management enough she is an extremely pleasant individual to work with. Harmony, thank you so much for helping me coordinate an evening that we will always cherish and remember we will definitely be coming back due to the amazing service that we received. Thank you to all the staff as well. You guys are awesome.
Purchased tickets for their New Years Eve gala, advertised to be a wonderful event to gather with friends/family. Dinner was listed to be served at 7pm with guest arrival at 6pm, dinner was not served until after 8pm and my party was the first to arrive just after 6pm (the majority arrived after 7pm). The hour delay wouldn’t have been significant if there was communication from staff/event organizers but there was none. At the price tag of $160+ per person, communication and timely service is expected. Food was subpar, advertised as a prime rib and oyster buffet, but they did not have sufficient portion for all in attendance despite the requirement for tickets and if there is a high price tag on such event there is an expectation that the food shall at least meet expectation - prime rib was poorly cooked and there wasn’t enough oysters present for me to comment as I didn’t get any. The windows in the ballroom of the Hilton Doubletree where the event was hosted were leaking leading to repeated dripping on members of my party further contributing to our unpleasant experience. I has high hopes for this event based on their social media and event description but was severely disappointed. Such a shame as the restaurant look very nice, but I would not recommend attend any of their events. Quite displeased. I have submitted a request for a refund due to the poor experience for New Years, and will update accordingly
My recent visit in November 2025 was much better than my experience a couple of years ago. It was my friend’s birthday and we brought a cake with us, and staff did a very nice job plating it, adding & lighting a candle & writing happy birthday on the cake. They also were nice in that they allowed us to take our time with taking photos & deciding our order. The waiters were very pleasant, especially in contrast to your average waiters. Very good experience. Greek salad - 9.5/10 Side order chicken with salad - 8.5/10 Pesto linguine - 8/10 Funghi ravioli - 9.5/10 — sauce was incredible Hot chocolate 9/10 They said at the beginning of the meal that they were giving out a complimentary dessert to everyone that evening, but we didn’t get one. I think they genuinely forgot to. 4 stars overall because - restaurant was very cold (they did have a tiny heater running which I thought was very nice but it just didn’t do the job) - they forgot to give the complimentary dessert - the food was not that great during my previous experience
