I tried this place twice before leaving a review. I was less than impressed the first time but thought I’d give them another try. I went in on a Wednesday around 4pm. Ordered a kafta kabob plate and a chicken tawook plate. The portions were decently sized and there was enough that we took some of our plate home. The meat was nothing special but it was good. The garlic sauce was good and there were no complaints. The salad was meh. The salad dressing was mostly oily and there was barely any seasoning to it. It wasn’t my favourite fattoush dressing. My biggest problem came with the preparation of the food. Even though the rice and potatoes were already cooked they were sitting in containers at room temperature. The owner loaded the plastic containers up with rice and potatoes and then put them in the microwave to warm them up. He also did the same to the meat before throwing it on the grill. I was highly unimpressed and honestly for the food to just be nuked in the microwave instead of being somewhat fresh and properly cooked I was very disappointed. You could tell the microwave had dried out the potatoes and rice and they weren’t as appetizing as they could have been. I’m not sure why the rice and potatoes aren’t in warming bays and why they need to be put in the microwave. To boot I paid over $40 for it all. There’s so many better places for this type of food around town that I wouldn’t choose this as a place to eat given the microwave is a staple in their cooking techniques.
Have absolutely no clue where some of these reviews are comming from as this place is one of the BEST in town if not the best? Me and my wife are originally from Toronto and this place is ON PAR with some of the Toronto ones? absolutely delicious tasting shawarma! Highly recommend??
Really good food with generous portions! Owner does not hold back from toppings and is super kind!! Super accommodating and didn’t charge us for extra baklava. It is clear he loves his business. Love supporting good businesses with good people and good food!!
Tried almost every shawarma place in the city and sawa definitely has some of the largest portions given also having a great price. Owner is super nice and clear he takes pride in his business
I ordered chicken shawarma wrap and clearly mentioned no pickles and spicy but it's came with pickles and mild blend taste and chicken smell bad very disappoint never order again ?
My shawarma pita is very good just Hygiene wise not impressed, person serving was wearing gloves preparing food and touch computer monitor for cashing out first client before me then touch my food directly without removing the old gloves it should replace it with the new ones supposed to be. Just saying ?
I was attracted to this spot by the number of stars and reviews, but unfortunately it was sub-par. I ordered the mixed chicken and beef shawarma on a pita bread, and honestly it was bland. A lot of people recommend the plate, so maybe that is better but the wrap wasn't seasoned much and had a weird aftertaste. Otherwise, the wrap was filled well, and service was good. I don't think I will come here again, as there are much better restaurants around Windsor.
